Education

I have been involved in education in one way or another for 10 years.

Please get in touch if you would like a full CV, references or would like to discuss proposals.

My educational experience includes:

  • teaching drawing, illustation and printmaking in Further and Higher Education;
  • leading workshops in schools, libraries and community centres, based on my illustration techniques and approaches to creativity. These often include my storytelling

mountain monster, year 2 pupil

  • leading longer projects in schools for ‘Creative Partnerships’
  • organising big events such as ‘The Big Draw’ and ‘ideas bank’ at the De La Warr Pavilion. The ‘Ideas Bank’ involved drawing enormous line murals on the walls of the gallery and organising drop in activities for visitors.

  • facililitating creative projects with adults with learning disabilities

When I work with people I find I lose all track of time, completly involved in the flow of artistic processes and communication. Working with people is very creatively and spiritually rewarding.

I’ve described below some of my favourite, most tried and tested projects below. Each page is fully illustrated with participant’s work:

Studio on the Move

De La Warr Residency

Please contact me if you are interested in any of the projects or would like to discuss your needs and ideas.

    Dear Ed

We visited the De La Warr today and bought two of your Storm Tree Stories in the gallery shop, which we are still both marvelling at. Then, I saw “Francis The Scaredy Cat” on your website and made the connection – we love “Francis” at school!

Very interested also in all your projects with schools and the authority. I am Deputy of an infant school in Eastbourne and Peter, Head of a school in St Leonards.

We were both wondering what your rates are for coming in to school – workshops for children/staff? Perhaps you would let us know.

We have thoroughly enjoyed looking at your website and because of our many connections with and fond memories of Hastings, are thrilled that you live in that special place!

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best wishes

    Jane and Peter
