New Kid’s song: Knock On The Door

I wrote this new children’s song a few weeks ago. I’ve had the melody for ages but have been looking for some words. A child at a school I was working at said “Knock on the door, it’s easy”. I can’t even remember why he said it but I thought it was a great phrase so stole it for a song!

I’ve been playing it loads in schools and storytelling sessions and it seems to go down really well.

It leads to good chats with the kids about asking for help if they have worries. I’ve been playing it after I perform ‘Dolphins Keep Me Safe in Dreams’. In that story, a child is rescued by dolphins. I sometimes lead a chat with the kids about “Who would be your dolphin?” as in “Who would you ask to rescue you if you were worried?”. We talk through how hard it can be to ask for help and ways to make it easier. They of course only say who their dolphin is if they want to! The song links in well.
