No Enemy

No Enemy is a song about someone who spent years full of hate. When the hate fades they feel empty, because all that hating had filled their life. But, in the song the scary emptiness the person feels is beautiful and full of possibilities.

It was originally inspired by a wonderful recent episode of Doctor Who called ‘Boom’ about a race of aliens fighting an imaginary army. So it has a touch of sci-fi.

I’ve done two versions that you can hear on the playlist. One has a squillion harmoniums, guitars, harmonicas, layered vocals, drums and digital stuff. The other is just two guitars, vocals, slapped knees, and a blackbird singing.

Hear No Enemy, a playlist on #SoundCloud.
